The 10 Best Date Night Restaurants in Windsor (2026-27): From Table-Side Pasta to Skyline Views
Anniversary, Valentine's or a long-overdue night out without the kids: here are Windsor's 10 best date-night restaurants for 2026-27, from candlelit Italian on Erie Street to a steakhouse at Caesars and a hidden bistro on a residential street.

The short answer
For a special occasion, book Gladstone Commons (a cozy bistro tucked into a Walkerville-area side street) or The Cook's Shop downtown, where pasta is finished at your table. For Italian on Erie Street, go to Osteria Aventino. For steak, Take Five Bistro or Neros Steakhouse at Caesars. For a river view of the Detroit skyline, River-Room Restaurant. Book ahead for Fridays, Saturdays and Valentine's Day.
Date night in Windsor has a reputation problem: too many couples default to the same chain restaurant they went to in 2014. Meanwhile, the city has quietly built up a great collection of small, romantic, chef-driven rooms. Some of them are hiding on side streets. One finishes your pasta in a wheel of cheese. One has the Detroit skyline as its wallpaper.
Here are our ten favourites for 2026-27, chosen for food, atmosphere, service and that hard-to-define "we should do this more often" feeling.

Gladstone Commons
Walkerville
Best for: a special occasion that feels personal
Tucked into a residential street near Walkerville, Gladstone Commons is the kind of place people drive in from out of town for. The food is inventive without being fussy, the cocktails are excellent, and the service paces your meal perfectly.
What to order: the sourdough and gnocchi to start, the steak frites or pork chop, and the sticky toffee pudding (non-negotiable).
Good to know: dinner Tuesday to Saturday. Street parking only.
The Cook's Shop
Downtown
Best for: table-side pasta and old-school romance
An intimate downtown Italian room where pasta is finished at your table. It has been a Windsor date-night classic for years, and it still delivers the little bit of theatre that makes a night feel special.
What to order: whatever pasta they're preparing at the table, and a bottle of red.
Osteria Aventino
Little Italy
Best for: Italian in a beautiful room on Erie Street
Gorgeous decor, wood-fired pizza and pasta, and dishes that arrive on silver platters. The owners often stop by tables, and the whole place has the warmth of a family-run restaurant with the polish of a special night out.
What to order: a pizza to share, the spicy rigatoni or gnocchi, and the branzino.
Good to know: dinner Wednesday to Sunday.
Take Five Bistro
Little Italy
Best for: steak and lobster
A warm, friendly bistro known for dry-aged steaks, stuffed lobster and a house-made Caesar. The choice of sides (the risottos especially) makes it easy to share.
What to order: the dry-aged steak with the mushroom and goat cheese risotto, and escargot to start.
Keifuku Japanese Restaurant
Downtown
Best for: sushi for two
Small, cozy and creative, Keifuku is a favourite for anniversaries. Let the chef recommend dishes and share everything.
What to order: the garlic crust sashimi and a chirashi bowl.
Cucina 360
Downtown
Best for: Italian before a show or the casino
A modern room run by a father and son, a short walk from the theatres and Caesars. The pasta is fresh, the truffle pizza is a must, and the complimentary focaccia sets the tone.
What to order: the truffle pizza, arancini and the pappardelle.
KOMA Restaurant
South Windsor
Best for: a tasting menu
KOMA's fusion plates are beautifully presented and generously portioned, and the tasting menu with wine pairings is one of the best ways to make an evening of it in South Windsor.
What to order: the tasting menu, or the cod with seafood and the lamb.
Neros Steakhouse
Downtown
Best for: going all out
A proper upscale steakhouse with a sommelier to steer the wine. It's a splurge, but watch for steak-and-lobster specials, which make it much better value.
Good to know: open Wednesday to Sunday evenings. Pair it with a show at the Colosseum.
River-Room Restaurant
Downtown
Best for: the Detroit skyline view
Ask for a window table and watch the Detroit skyline light up across the river. The Mediterranean menu is solid, and after dinner the riverfront trail is right outside for a walk.
Good to know: book a window table, and go at sunset.
Salute Resto + Bar
1745 Sprucewood Ave, near LaSalle
Best for: cocktails, oysters and live music
A cozy bar and restaurant with a big menu, excellent cocktails and a live singer on some nights. Save room for the frozen hazelnut cheesecake.
What to order: oysters, the crab gnocchi and a sangria.
